About High Latitude Hemp
Research rooted in the Westfjords.
Family-owned and operated · Local · Owner-operated
High Latitude Hemp is a grower-led hemp company based in Bolungarvík, Iceland. We work at the intersection of cultivation, plant genetics and product development, combining hands-on growing with a long-term research programme focused on High Latitude agriculture.
Our CBD flower is currently grown indoors, where the growing environment can be managed throughout the year. Alongside today’s production, we are developing hemp cultivars and cultivation methods for Iceland’s short, cool growing season, with a focus on early maturity, cold tolerance, reliable seed production and traits suited to High Latitude agriculture.
Our research combines controlled breeding and plant-science methods with outdoor trials in the Westfjords. Our aim is outdoor-grown flower and seed, supported by practical knowledge and plant material adapted to northern conditions.
Founder & research lead
The science behind the grow.
High Latitude Hemp brings together practical growing experience and a background in plant research. Our founder’s curiosity about plants and how they adapt to their surroundings shapes the way we grow in the Westfjords.
Research is part of our everyday work. We observe, test and learn from each growing season, using that knowledge to improve our cultivation and explore what hemp can offer agriculture in Iceland.
Research support
Supported development at 66° North.
The development of our research has received grant support from Icelandic funding programmes helping us advance breeding, cultivation trials and the wider development of hemp for northern conditions.
